StockDownloader is a generic freeware stock price utility. Choose a list of stock tickers and enter them in the window shown. Press 'Load' and a text file is created called 'Internet.txt.' This file contains the current two years of the selected stock data in ASCII (plain text) format, in comma separated columns containing Date, Ticker, Open, High, Low, Close, Volume, in the correct format used by Trademan, GoldenGem and other utilities.

The file is placed in the C:\Program Files\GoldenGem folder. It is the default file which GoldenGem looks at if you press 'Load from Internet' in the GoldenGem program.

Each time you repeat with a new list of tickers, the file Internet.txt is over-written, so it is not necessary to know about or look at the actual data file. However, if you want to view, save or edit the file, you can do so using programs like Wordpad or Notepad, or using GoldenGem's file browser. Also, other stock analysis programs that use plain text files can read the file created by the StockDownloader.
